Biography

A history painter, mythological compositions, allegorical subjects, genre scenes, landscapes, watercolourist and engraver, he was a pupil of Jean-Louis Janmot and Irénée Richard in Lyon.

He exhibited at the Lyon Salon from 1855, at the Paris Salon from 1859, and in Vienna in 1873. He was made a Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1878.
