Hervé Van der Straeten

Biography

French designer known for his sculptural approach to furniture and lighting. Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he first gained recognition in 1985 with his bold jewelry collections before expanding into the world of design.

In 1999, he opened his own gallery in the Marais district of Paris, where he showcases his unique or limited-edition creations. Designed in his Parisian workshops, his pieces are the result of exceptional craftsmanship, combining patina, chiseling, lacquering, and marquetry. His work is distinguished by a daring hybridization of elegant lines, purity, and formal innovation.

Hervé Van der Straeten has collaborated with prestigious brands such as Dior, for whom he designed the "J'adore" perfume bottle, as well as Guerlain and the Saint-Louis crystal manufacturer. His creations are now featured in several public collections, including the Mobilier National and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. His commitment to artisanal excellence earned him the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" label in 2007 and the distinction of Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2008.
